Sir Thomas Daniel the “King and Father of Bristol” was friends with a notorious buccaneer named Samuel “Sam Lord” Hall and would visit Sunbury to have drinks with Thomas Daniel.
A turret was previously on the roof of Sunbury Great House that was used as a signaling station for Thomas Daniel to arrange get-togethers with Sam Lord using mirrors.
The Great House is open to the public and is filled with antiques, collections and trinkets from bygone days.
